Portrait by Andy Pilsbury

Anna was born in Bavaria, South Germany and grew up in a rural community; both of her parents were dairy farmers. After working as a telecoms engineer in Germany for many years, Anna decided on a career change to become a goldsmith and trained with a master goldsmith in the city of Regensburg, Germany. Anna took precious stone courses before moving to Birmingham in the year 2000 to study for a BA in Jewellery and Silversmithing at the School of Jewellery. Her connection with the School continued after she finished her studies and she still is employed as a part time lecturer on the BA Jewellery & Objects course at the School of Jewellery.
Anna works from a silversmithing workshop in Frederick Street, which she shares with the silversmiths Andy Macgowan, James Butler, Kevin Grey and the chaser Ray Hassall. Her work includes jewellery, as well as silversmithing and large scale sculptural pieces.
